Overview of Medicaid Billing Program

The Alaska Department of Health and Social Services is encouraging Alaskan school districts to implement programs to bill Medicaid for school-based behavioral health services and therapies.

Pacific Health Policy Group, a consulting group specializing in implementation of Medicaid programs, was contracted by the State to investigate the feasibility and potential savings to districts utilizing a billing program. PHPG found that on average school districts would save approximately $495 per student receiving Medicaid-eligible therapeutic services.

PHPG developed this online toolkit to assist school districts in implementing a Medicaid billing program. Included are all the necessary forms, documents, and training materials to ensure minimal administrative burden on districts.
